Diamonds worth Rs. 45-50 Lac recovered, two nabbed




New Delhi: With the arrest of two fraudsters namely Deepak and Ravi Raj Gupta
Special Team, Crime Branch, Delhi has busted a gang of cheats and 7 Diamonds worth Rs 45-50 lac have been recovered from their possession.
 According to police sources, the complainant Sh. Binu Jain reported that he is dealing in the business of Diamonds on commission basis. One Basu Bhai contacted him over his mobile phone and requested him to show some Diamonds at his office.
  He further informed that he wanted these Diamonds for one of his clients. Basu Bhai had got his number from JUST DIAL Portal. On 13-06-12, he again asked the complainant to show the Diamonds. The complainant reached his office with Diamonds (one 4 carat KSI-1, one 3
carat 3.51, ESI-2, five pieces pear shape 0.95 carat, one Blue Saffire 4.63). Basu Bhai took the diamonds and asked the complainant to wait in his office so that he could show these to his brother in the inside room. But the said Basu Bhai left away with diamonds from the backside gate of his office. The complainant kept on waiting for one hour but Basu Bhai did not return. Then he informed the police and subsequently case vide FIR No 121/12 u/s 420/406 IPC PS Kotla Mubarak Pur was got registered.
 A team of officers of Special Team, Crime Branch led by Inspr. Sudhir Gulia, consisting of SI Ramesh, ASI Virender Tyagi, HC Birender Singh, HC Surender Singh, HC Lalit Kumar, Ct. Sanjay, was formed under the supervision of Sh. M.C. Katoch ACP/Special Team to identify the fraudsters involved in the crime. On 24.11.12, an information was received that one Deepak @ Titar will come to Britannia Chowk and from there he will go to Karol Bagh to sell one
Diamond. Acting upon this information officials of Special Team apprehended above said Deepak @ Titar S/o Mangal Singh R/o D-352, JJ Colony Shakur Pur, Delhi and one Diamond was recovered from his possession.  The co-accused Ravi Raj was arrested from near E
Block, CNG Pump, Shakurpur, Delhi and he is in police custody remand till 9.12.12. The police team has recovered 6 pieces of diamonds from Kolkata. The total cost of recovered Diamonds is about 45-50 lac.
Police sources say that during interrogation of the accused persons has revealed that to earn easy
money and to lead lavish life, they resorted to commit this such crime. The accused Deepak @Titar is a BC of PS Subash Place and is involved in more than 26 cases of theft and burglary and the accused Raviraj Johri @Basu Bhai is a Gold smith and he can evaluate the diamonds easily. Both the accused met in jail and they became good friends and in jail only they planned to cheat jewelers of Diamonds when they would come out of Jail.
