FDI: SP and BSP paves the way for Carrefour, Tesco and Wal-Mart in India

New Delhi: As it was expected, government won the battle of FDI in Rajya Sabha also with the help of as usual partners SP and BSP and thus the way for the FDI cleared in India. In the much awaited voting in Rajya Sabha and after a two day discussion, finally today M.Ps cast their votes on the issue and government witnessed victory by a margin of 14 votes.

According to sources, government managed total of 123 votes whereas opposition bounded to limit its tally as only 109 votes. Finally government witnesses the victory by 14 votes.

However government had left no stone unturned to ensure its victory and even Prime Minister has urged the entire nominated member to be available during voting.

Only Sachin Tendulkar remained absent from the house due to the ongoing test match with England and he was in Kolkata.

Once again SP and BSP played crucial role and scripted the victory for UPA  like many occasion on previously. Different from Lok Sabha, Mayavati decided to vote in favour of UPA whereas SP decided to walkout during voting.
The victory of government has provided a way for foreign equity in multi brand retail in the country
