Delhi: Delhi Minister of Education, Social Welfare, Women & Child
Development, Govt. of Delhi ,
Prof. Kiran Walia convened a meeting of
State Advisory Board in Delhi Secretariat today and took a number of decisions
keeping in view the interests of the school children. Under the provisions of Delhi School
Education Act, it has been provided to give representation to the private
schools in the Advisory Board.
In the meeting, it was decided that the upper
age limit for the nursery and above standards upto 1st, admission will be as follows
For Pre School - Not
more than 3 years 11 months and 30 days as on 30th March of the
start of Academic year in which admission is sought.
1.
For
Pre Primary - Not
more than 4 years 11 months and 30 days as on 30th March of the
start of Academic year in which admission is sought.
2.
For
Class-I - Not
more than 5 years 11 months and 30 days as on 30th March of the
start of Academic year in which admission is sought.However, some relaxation
for children with special needs will be worked out.
Prof.
Walia informed that the Board has recommended opening of 2nd shifts
in the Private schools on the prime condition that it will not be run for
commercial purpose. However, the Board
recommended to constitute a committee to look into the aspects of
including safety of children, quality of
education and other related issues.
Education
Minister informed that she has suggested the schools to give more weightage to distance /
neighbourhood criteria in comparison to other criteria.
