Government taken decision to enhance technical education





New Delhi: Dr.  A.K. Walia, Minister of Higher Education informed today that important major policy decisions have been taken to bring an improvement in the management of the engineering colleges and to enhance the quality of education in Delhi under Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.  These decisions were taken at a meeting convened by him where Prof. D.K. Bandopadya, Vice Chancellor, GGSIP University and Chairman and Directors of self financed engineering institutes were present.

The following decisions were taken :-

1.     Guidelines be formulated under which permanent affiliations to eligible engineering colleges would be given. However, system inspections by audit cell and quality cell would continue as being presently practiced.
2.     It was decided that the counseling for admission would be finalized by August every year so that all the admitted students are able to start attending classes in time.
3.     Fee Committee would decide the fee structure well before start of academic session so that students are not put to any inconvenience.
4.     Proposal for preparation of waiting list of eligible students would be examined so that in case there are vacancies still available in various colleges, these could be filled up from the waiting list.
5.     Request for migrations from the institutions should be decided expeditiously.
6.     Every effort would be made by the University and the colleges to improve the content and quality of the courses.

Dr. Walia stressed that all steps must be taken to ensure that the quality of education under IP University and its colleges are of the highest standard and all the colleges and the University work as a close knit team.
