Delhi: Chairman Education Committee, Satish Upadayay today condemns the
statement of CM Sheila Dixit, ‘Corporation is misusing the fund given by Delhi
Govt. for Primary Education’. He said that to provide primary education is
obligatory function of a Municipal Corporation and SDMC is doing its best to
fulfil its responsibilities towards primary education.
Upadhyay said that SDMC send quarterly report regarding expenditure report of
grant in aid to the Directorate of Education, Delhi Govt... It clearly shows
that Corporation is not hiding anything and properly utilizing the fund for
primary education. The statement of CM is baseless and politicaly motivated.

Education Committee also said that SDMC is providing books, uniforms, mid-day
meal etc. to 3,41,000 students in its 588 schools and we are trying to upgrade
the standard of primary education, our objective is not only to provide better education,
but overall development of the students.
Satish
Upadhyay said that Delhi Govt. want to take primary education from Municipal
Corporations. In 1970 they have already taken secondary education. It is the
conspiracy of Delhi Govt. to blame Corporation for misusing the fund. Delhi
Govt. should pay some more attention to their 918 schools and try to improve
the standard of secondary education and co-operates with the corporation by
providing adequate grant for education.
