Delhi: Lt. Governor of
Delhi, Tejendra Khanna today felicitated
the Gallantry Awardees and Distinguished Service Medal Winners on the occasion
of Armed Forces Flag Day at a function held at Raj Niwas in the presence of Sh.
Arvinder Singh Lovely-Minister of Revenue, Govt. of Delhi, senior officers of
Govt. of Delhi and Army, Navy and Air Force officers.
A solemn function was organized by Rajya Sainik Board,
Delhi at the Raj Niwas to honour the Battle Casualties and felicitate the gallantry
awardees and the Distinguished Service Medal winners. In total 22 awardees were
presented the grant cheques. It includes 7 Gallantry Awards and 15
Distinguished Service Medals. Ex-Gratia amount was presented to Lt Col Sumit
Arora and Ex-Sep Anil Kumar.
On this occasion, LG stated that the words are not
adequate to express the gratitude with the nation feels for the outstanding
sense of duties commitment to the cause of national sovereignty and integration
which is repeatedly upholds and displayed by distinguished members of our Armed
Forces. The Armed Forces uphold the prestige of the nation and keep of our
Tiranga flattering in pride in all parts of the country. Shri Khanna further stated that I pray the
almighty to give all strength i.e. physical, mental, spiritual to our brothers
sisters of our Defence Forces to be able to discharge their duties with the
fullest dedication and competence to continued to hold the flag of nation high
and be honoured and be respected by whole of our civil society as we have tried
to do today.
Shri Khanna also paid tribute to the
personnel who laid down their lives for protecting the sovereignty and
integrity of the country.
