Aadhar Number is unique to an individual , valid for life: CM
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Sheila Dikshit today stated that her Government would put all 9 centrally sponsored schemes relevant for Delhi on Aadhar Enabled Direct Cash Transfer Mode by April 2013. On launch of Aadhar Enabled Direct Cash Transfer w.e.f. 1st January 2013 by the Union Government in 20 Districts of the country, Delhi implemented 4 out of 9 centrally sponsored schemes on this mode in its two districts – North West and North East. She also announced that Delhi would achieve 95% Aadhar Enrolment target by February 2013. Smt. Dikshit expressed these views in her inaugural address in a day long State level workshop on Aadhar Enabled Direct Cash Transfer organized by Delhi e-Governance Society at Delhi Secretariat. Delhi PWD Minister Shri R.K. Chauhan, Secretary IT Shri Rajender Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Shri Dharam Pal and Ry. Director General UIDIA, Ms. Sujata Chaturvedi were present on this occasion. The workshop was attended by Delhi Government Senior officers and all stakeholders including Bankers. The workshop would sensitize different stakeholders to expedite the process of services delivery through this mode.
. Dikshit also stated that each Aadhar Number is unique to an individual and remains valid for life. Aadhar number helps in accessing to services. The unique identification is a revolutionary method to overcome bogus beneficiaries and duplication. She suggested inclusions of Aadhar numbers on University degrees and Birth Certificates. She exhorted the departments concerned to work on this direction.
