manner as well as to mark the occasion of children’s day (which falls on the
same date this year), 50 boys and girls (between the ages of 5 to 15) were

small children glued to a video game or huddled together on a digital device
for hours. This is causing serious damage to this generation, and parents must
take note of it. It is not an intelligent idea to give your child a smartphone
or a playstation. Rather give them games and kits that drive them outdoors.

produces. This is a preventable type of diabetes in most people and usually

In fact, this lining can break down when exposed to high temperatures, releasing microplastics into the beverage duing serving. In the same way, research proves that the plastic or polystyrene cups also emit harmful particles when used for hot drinks.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">A recent research by IIT Kharagpur has confirmed the existence of contaminated particles of the hot liquid served in paper cups due to the degradation of micro-plastics and other hazardous components from the lining material of the cup. skin and run cool (not cold) water over the burned area as it eases the pain,

The theme chosen for this year's International Day of Yoga 2023 is "Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," which beautifully encapsulates our collective aspiration for "One Earth, One Family, One Future.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">Most of the yoga-based studies so far have relied on patient’s experience and rating of pain and disability as an indicator of recovery and better quality of life. Corticomotor excitability and flexibility improved significantly in the patients.</div></span><p></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">They recorded objective measures for pain (electrophysiology), sensory perception (quantitative computerized sensory testing) and cortical excitability parameters. (using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation of motor cortex).They found significant changes between all the parameters in CLBP patients compared to healthy controls at baseline. Significant improvement in all parameters was found after yoga.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">This research supported by the Science and Technology of Yoga and Meditation (SATYAM) funded by the Department of Science and Technology, GoI has been recently published in the ‘Journal of Medical Science and Clinical Research’.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">Assessment of pain and corticomotor excitability parameters shall help in establishing strong ground with scientific evidence for yoga to be prescribed as therapeutic intervention for chronic low back pain relief with or without standard therapy depending on the pathology. Also these parameters can be used for prognosis and follow-up of patients during recovery phase.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">The team also developed yoga protocol for CLBP patients and for fibromyalgia patientsin Pain Research and TMS laboratory, AIIMS, New Delhi.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">In patients with Chronic Low Back Pain, 4 weeks of yoga intervention improved pain status and pain-related functional disability, increased spinal flexibility and corticomotor excitability significantly more than standard care.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">The study suggests that in long term Yoga can be performed at home, and hence is an inexpensive therapeutic intervention. <span><b>Infection:</b> The virus infects the epithelial cells in the throat and lungs. SARS-CoV-2 binds to the ACE2 receptors on human cells, which are often found mostly in throats and lungs. Virus on your skin, lacking ACE2 expression, will be harmless. The virus enters through the by nasal passage, eyes and mouth. Our hands are the main instruments that take the virus to reach our mouth, nose and eyes. Washing hands with soap water for 20 seconds as often as possible helps prevent the infection.</span></span></div>

Although the animal did not show any clinical symptoms, the droplets from the nose and the saliva had a viral load. Humans will need a higher dosage than 700000 PFU to get infected. An animal study on the genetically modified mice with ACE2 receptors showed that it could be infected with SARS with just 240 PFU. In comparison, it required 70,000 PFU of novel coronavirus to get infected.</span></div>
