New Delh: Delhi Health Minister Dr. A.K. Walia today stated that an enquiry committee constituted by the city Government has submitted its report within the stipulated period of three-days. He further stated that the committee headed by the Special Secretary, Deptt. of Health, Govt. of Delhi after taking account of all circumstances and causes resulting in casualty of four serious patients in Sushruta Trauma Centre has submitted a detailed report. Dr. Walia stated that In-Charge of the Trauma Centre has been removed. He would be offered an alternative posting after due consideration of the report. Further Medical Officer (In-Charge, Repair and Maintenance in Trauma Centre) has been suspended. The two Junior Specialists deployed to look after Anesthesia process has been terminated. The Health Department has been instructed to deploy efficient and experienced Junior Specialists in Trauma Centre immediately. An F.I.R. has already been registered with the Police against the delinquent contractor and directions have been issued to initiate cancelation of the contract. Two persons have also been arrested. Further the process of black-listing the contractor is also being initiated side by side. It may be recalled that Dr. Walia has constituted a four-member Committee with an aim to undertake an overall review and strengthening of the critical area in all Government Hospital. The committee has since started functioning. Dr. Walia stated that his Department has been asked to carry on random/unscheduled inspections to find out any deficiencies in the system. It may also be recalled that an amount Rs.2 lakh as ex-gratia amount to next of kin of each deceased has already been announced.
