New Dellhi: Hon’ble Delhi High Court has accepted the proposal
of the Delhi Government to set up five Special Fast Track Courts in the Capital
city to deal with cases of sexual assault on women expeditiously. It may
be recalled that Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had addressed a letter to
Hon’ble Chief Justice, Delhi High Court, Justice Darmar Murugesan requesting
him to take an appropriate urgent action to make five Special Fast Track Courts
functional as approved by the city government. A communication of
approval was sent to Hon’ble High Court by city government in October, 2012.
Hon’ble High Court today issued a letter addressed to the
Principal Secretary (Law, Justice & Legislative Affairs), Government of
Delhi communicating its acceptance on the proposal of Delhi Government. Dikshit
had requested to make functional such courts in order to provide security to
the women in Delhi, to deal with cases of sexual assault on women and to
provide speedy justice and conviction of the guilty.
