New Delhi: Delhi Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami today launched implementation of Kerosene Free Delhi Scheme under his Assembly segment of Rajinder Nagar. He distributed filled in gas cylinders, LPG connections and gas stoves for free to 150 families in a function organised at Food Supplies office at Pusa.

Speaking on this occasion Sh Goswami stated that the scheme has been prepared to make Delhi a kerosene free state. Delhi is all set to become the first such state in the country. He added that the Chief Minister has always been trying to mould all the schemes in such a way to percolate down the benefits to the beneficieries from the weaker sections. Sh Goswami also stated that the city government has earmarked an amount of Rs 200 crore during this finianial year for this purpose. The scheme is aimed to empower women as the connection is being handed over in the senior most women heads of the families. The government has decided to provide three more susidised cylinders to the beneficiaries of this scheme. Delhi government would bear the cost of the difference of the market price and the cost of subsidised gas cylinder for all the beneficiaries. The kitchens would become smoke free and women would be saved of the diseases resulting from the smoke.
