Shame: Officers swindled 20 crore meant for night shelters, BJP alleges

New Delhi: BJP Delhi Pradesh President Vijender Gupta has demanded the Lt. Governor of Delhi that he should immediately dismiss 28 officers of the Urban Shelter Improvement Board who have swindled away 20 crore rupees meant for constructing night shelters for the helpless people passing their nights in open sky. These officers have committed unpardonable crime and inhuman act with the poor people deserving nigh shelters in the intense cold weather. The night shelter bungling continued for more than a decade. Government had knowledge about it, but in place of punishing the guilty persons Delhi Government tried to protect them. This scam could not have come to light had the CVC not taken cognizance of this serious corruption. The CVC assigned the work of investigating the racket of night shelter to the CBI. The CVC has recommended dismissal of the officers and heavy penalty on them who committed the night shelter bungling. The Government has not taken any action on the recommendations of CVC. These officers have been committing this bungling of crores for the last one decade, but the Government did not stop it. Shri Gupta has demanded the Lt. Governor to order a high level and transparent enquiry of the activities of entire Urban Shelter Improvement Board during the last decade so that the people may come to know about this new bungling. He has also demanded that the Ministers of Delhi Government who protected these officers should also be questioned.
