New Delhi: Prashant Bhushan of Aam Admi Party has made several false, scurrilous and defamatory allegations against the Commissioner of Police, Delhi during a Press Conference today, which are baseless, unfounded and ludicrous, with the sole intention of besmirching CP’s personal integrity, reputation and competence. These allegations are at the behest of persons who have been arrayed as accused in investigations conducted under his supervision during his tenure in the CBI. CP has already issued a Legal Notice to one Mr. M.G. Devasahayam, who had sought to raise similar allegations. The said Mr. Devasahayam, who was acting at the behest of persons with vested interests, then approached the Delhi High Court with a Writ Petition, which was not entertained by the Delhi High Court.
It appears that Prashant Bhushan is now acting at the behest
of the same vested interests, i.e. accused persons and particularly those whom
CP had investigated during his tenure in the CBI and who have, thereafter,
filed several petitions against him, as he was not willing to bend or
compromise in their case.
Needless to add that CP is a highly decorated officer and has
received medals from His Excellency the President of India, commendations from
various State Governments, successive Directors of the Central Bureau of
Investigation etc. in recognition/appreciation of his distinguished service,
particularly in the area of terrorism, organized crime, economic crime etc. The
allegations levelled by Mr. Bhushan are clearly misguided and are being made
unwittingly at the behest of vested interests. Necessary legal action is being
initiated in this regard. CP will continue, at all times, to put the interest
of the city, its citizens and of the Police Force above his own interests and
those of his family.
