New Delhi: A
delegation of Wakf Board, Delhi led by its Chairman. Mateen Ahmed today called on
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit at her office at Delhi Secretariat.
Many issues related to the functioning of the Board were discussed in the
meeting. Dikshit underlined the need of proper maintenance and management
of Wakf properties.
It was decided to
constitute a Committee to suggest ways & means to protect, maintain, manage
Wakf properties and put an end to the ongoing encroachment and non-recovery of
rent amount. This would go a long way in increasing the income resulting in
better upkeep. The Committee is likely to be chaired by the Chief
Minister. The Revenue Minister, Divisional Commissioner, Chairman (Wakf
Board), Board’s prominent members and other eminent personalities may get place
in the Committee.
