New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila
Dikshit today stated that it is difficult to neglect 52% OBC population in the
country as the government at state level and centre have been trying to ensure
opportunities to move ahead to one and all. Dikshit today addressed a
mammoth convention at Talkatora Stadium and described OBC as backbone of the
country.
She further stated that whatever is being
accomplished in Delhi, the contribution of OBCs has been substantial.
They are working in the direction of laying a strong foundation for this
century. Smt. Dikshit felicitated around 12 eminent personalities of OBC
community. Chairman Delhi OBC Commission Shri Jagdish Yadav gave welcome
address in the convention. Speaker Delhi Vidhan Sabha Dr. Yoganand
Shastri and MLA Naseeb Singh also expressed their views.
Dikshit
stated that her government is taking care of all sections of the society.
It is essential to provide priority as per constitutional provisions to those
communities which are lagging behind in respect of development and
upliftment. It is time to empower OBCs to make them powerful component of
the society. The OBCs have been contributing substantially in all
development and infrastructure works in Delhi. The OBCs are marching
ahead with the help of their hardwork. They have to reach at the top
level.
In order to avail reservation
opportunities they will have to educate their wards including girls. With
being educated the difference between communities becomes negligible.
While referring to Delhi Smt. Dikshit stated that there are ample opportunities
available in the Capital city. Delhi has witnessed unprecedented
development. The per capita income has touched more than ` 2
lakh per annum. This reflects the prosperity. She also stated that
her government has been making all possible efforts to ensure welfare and
upliftment of OBC.
