Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi called upon the trade to create awareness across the Country against adulteration and said that tax evasion is simply a loss to the exchequer whereas the adulteration is spoiling the generations. He called upon the CAIT to initiate a nationwide movement against such menace which is a social crime.

He expresses his views with a meeting with trade leaders of different states of the Country at his residence at Gandhinagar in Gujarat. The meeting was led by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) apex body of the trading community of the Country.

On the occasion, Modi listing out several core issues including formation of a National Trade Policy, Ministry of Internal Trade both at Centre and State, a commission to review Acts, Laws, Rules and Regulations governing the retail trade, availability of extensive banking facilities beside lodging strong objections to FDI in Retail and Free Trade Agreement between India and European Union.

He expressed his deep concern over alleged attempts of big corporate houses to control and corner the banking sector in their hands which ultimately may not be conducive to the economy and could go against the interests of 'aam aadmi',

He strongly advocated the need of a clear distinction between a small trader of taluka or panchayat level with that of other traders who are conducting business in urban cities. Such poor trader cannot be placed at par with traders belonging to big cities and therefore some kind of a policy is needed to protect such hapless traders.

Modi also stressed the need of a "code of business ethics" for business fraternity as a whole. He called upon the CAIT to convene a national convention of traders from all over the Country at Ahmadabad where he himself shall be present and will share his vision and thoughts about trade and commerce in the Country.
