The 130th Episode of 'Mann Ki Baat'
The Prime Minister addressed the nation in the 130th episode of 'Mann Ki Baat'. On this occasion, he discussed topics such as Republic Day, Voters' Day, and the journey of 'Startup India'. Let us look at the unsung heroes the Prime Minister highlighted in this episode.
Jagdish Prasad Ahirwar Ji, Madhya Pradesh
In the 130th episode of 'Mann Ki Baat', the Prime Minister commended Jagdish Prasad Ahirwar Ji from the Panna district of Madhya Pradesh for his unique efforts. The Prime Minister mentioned that Jagdish Prasad Ahirwar Ji serves as a forest beat guard. During a patrol, he realized that information regarding the many medicinal plants found in the forest had not been systematically documented anywhere. Jagdish-ji wanted to pass this knowledge on to the next generation, so he began identifying these medicinal plants and creating a record of them.
He identified over 125 medicinal plants, gathering details such as photographs, names, uses, and locations for each one. The Forest Department compiled the information he collected and published it as a book. The data in this book is now proving extremely useful for researchers, students, and forest officials alike.
Mir Jafar, Anantnag
When the strength of family and society combines, we can overcome even the greatest challenges. In this context, the Prime Minister spoke about Sheikhgund village in Anantnag. He highlighted how the challenges associated with drugs, tobacco, cigarettes, and alcohol had escalated significantly in the area.
Disturbed by this situation, Mir Jafar-ji resolved to tackle the problem. He united everyone in the village, from the youth to the elderly. His initiative had such an impact that local shops stopped selling tobacco products altogether.
This effort has also raised awareness among the people about the dangers of drug abuse.
‘Lal Paar Saree’, Malaysia
A specific organization plays a major role in strengthening the historical and cultural ties between India and Malaysia: the ‘Malaysia India Heritage Society’. In addition to various other programs, the society organizes heritage walks that cover cultural sites connecting the two nations. Last month, an ‘Iconic Walk’ featuring the ‘Lal Paar Saree’ (saree with a red border) was organized in Malaysia. This saree shares a special bond with our Bengali culture. A record was set at the event for the largest number of people wearing this saree, a feat subsequently entered into the Malaysian Book of Records. Odissi dance performances and Baul music captivated the hearts of the audience on this occasion.
From teaching Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, and other languages to organizing heritage walks and showcasing West Bengal’s textiles and music, the Indian community in Malaysia is doing wonders! #MannKiBaat pic.twitter.com/HY87D7OMvn

Anantha Neeru Samrakshanam Project, Andhra Pradesh
In the 130th episode of *Mann Ki Baat*, the Prime Minister spoke about the Anantapur region in Andhra Pradesh, noting that it has historically grappled with severe drought. The soil here is red and sandy, which leads to water scarcity. Many areas in the region experience prolonged dry spells; indeed, people often liken the conditions in Anantapur to those of a desert.
