Government tie up with world fame Kalinga institute to set up a school in Delhi
New Delhi: Delhi Cabinet today gave its approval for setting up of a residential school for SC/OBC/Minorities/Orphans of Delhi and to make 441 government schools fully fire proof. It also approved the liberal and simplified policy guidelines for relocation of JJ dwellers by accepting the recommendations of the Group of Ministers (GoM). The Cabinet also recommended to the Hon’ble LG for summoning of the Budget Session of the Assembly from 13th March to 2nd April, 2013. The decisions were taken in a Cabinet Meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Smt. Sheila Dikshit.
While briefing the media after the Cabinet meeting, Smt. Dikshit stated that Delhi has taken a significant decision to provide free quality education to the SC/OBC/.Minorities and Orphans of Delhi in order to bring them at par with other wards of affluent society. This would go a long way in making the wards of weaker sections advanced. She stated that the government has approved setting up of a residential school for these categories in Delhi in collaboration with a world fame Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, Bhubaneshwar.
The Society has been successfully operating a school for thousands of tribal students to provide them free quality education with specially devised techniques in order to make them educationally forward. The school at Isapur would impart education to 1,200 students. The school would have classes from 1st to 12th standard in due course. The age of admission in 1st class would be six years and annual family income would be as per EWS specifications.
The city government would bear the cost of imparting education @ Rs.5,000/- per month per child in school for five years, afterwards the KISS would take care of all the expenses. The KISS shall operate, maintain and manage the school for a period of 15 years on no profit no loss basis as per terms and conditions mentioned in an MOU. There would a Governing Body comprising the Chief Secretary and other Principal Secretaries to take major policy decisions. The school would be affiliated with the CBSE.
