New Delhi: An
interstate co-ordination meeting aimed at strengthening cooperation and
coordination in order to address various issues related to policing in NCR was
held under the chairmanship of CP/Delhi today at PHQ. Senior officers of Delhi
Police and their counterparts from Haryana, U.P., Chandigarh, Punjab, J&K,
Uttarakhand and Rajasthan attended the meeting.
The objective of the
meeting was to share terror related intelligence and inputs about various
extremist outfits in view of the forthcoming Republic Day. CP/Delhi
stressed on increasing police presence, intensive checking at vulnerable
points, tenant verification, guest house checking and sensitization of cyber
café owners, second-hand car dealers, transporters, property dealers, cycle
sellers, chemical dealers and STD/ISTD PCO booth owners in order to strengthen
the counter-terrorism measures.
Information on wanted
interstate criminals and their modus operandi was
exchanged. Surveillance over interstate criminals involved in
heinous offences, repeat offenders and gangs was emphasized. Action against
‘Mewati’ criminals was also stressed upon. Measures required to be
taken to prevent escape of under trial criminals while in transit
were also discussed.
Steps taken by Delhi
Police for the safety and security of women after the bus gang-rape case were
shared with other state police officers for replicating them in their areas.
Safety of women
working in BPOs, media houses, corporate houses, firms, companies and
organisation and their travel during odd hours were also deliberated upon.
To increase checking
at border check posts, it was decided to put strong pickets. It was
decided that senior officers from other states will advise the respective
Traffic Police and Transport Authorities to remove ‘tinted’ glasses and take
steps for the safety and security of women. It was decided to
educate transporters to install GPS system for safety & security of their
vehicles & goods. Bordering state police officers were requested to take
necessary steps to divert the traffic or hold it from entering Delhi before 10
pm till the Republic Day.
