New Delhi: Mayor of South Delhi, Sarita Chaudhary said
that SDMC is paying special attention towards development and maintenance of
its parks. In this regard officials of Horticulture Department are directed to
maintain and beautify parks.
Mayor said that SDMC has already installed 4000 benches in the
parks and there is a plan of installing 4000 more benches. Alongwith this
functioning of lights and tubewells are also improved on priority. She said
that before moonsoon Malis are given training for cleaning of water harvesting
structure in parks.
Chaudhary said that boundary walls are also constructed in
the parks to protect them from encroachments/misuse by unscrupulous elements
and there is also planning of installing swings for children in parks. She
emphasised that we can make the parks greener and developed with the support of
RWAs. She also assured that we will appoint more Malis for proper maintenance
of park.
She said that for the beautification of parks Horticulture
Department is ensuring that all the public parks are cleaned of unwanted grass,
garbage. The masonry structures/grills in parks and gardens be repaired colour
washed and painted. Special greening efforts shall be carried out at all SDMC
parks including parks at Slums and JJ Clusters.
