There is no medicine or treatment is available for Dengue, only we can prevent it, so it becomes very important to ensure its prevention by checking the breeding of mosquitoes in the house and its surroundings. South Delhi Mayor, Mrs. Sarita Choudhary inaugurated a Month long Anti Malaria/Dengue Control Programme from Dengue and Malaria.
Dr. N.K. Yadav, Municipal Health Officer, SDMC who gave a detailed presentation about the activities undertaken by the Public Health Deptt. to control the breeding of mosquitoes to prevent spread of Dengue and Malaria.
He informed that “temephos” is available free of cost to one and all at circle office of Malaria in its each Ward. The “temephos” is used to check the breeding in clean stagnant water just like coolers or any other place which cannot be cleaned regularly.
She further said that the life cycle of Ades-egypti mosquitoes is of about seven-eight days, if we break the life cycle in between by just changing the water after cleaning once in a week that would check the breeding of the mosquitoes.
This Programme is initiated for creating awareness by Municipal Councillors and RWAs of South Delhi about vector-borne diseases namely Dengue and Malaria in SDMC areas.
On the occassion, Mrs. Sarita Choudhary said that we start using dessert coolers as soon as the summer starts. We oftenly plant herbal and decorative plants in vase/pots which contain clean water. These are the sensitive places where mosquitoes can breed as the ades mosquitoes responsible for Dengue usually breeds in clean stagnant water.
In our households we usually depend on servants for cleaning of such utensils. If we become more sensitive and take care of such places ourselves that can help in preventing spread of vector-borne diseases like Dengue and Malaria. She announced that the Public Health Deptt. of SDMC will sensitize Municipal Councillors and RWAs from June 1st on vector borne diseases in all wards in its jurisdiction to create awareness among the masses.
