Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today released a book authored by former Secretary, Delhi Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha S.K. Sharma. The book titled “Vidhayika, Sarkar aur Matdata” is the second book by Shri Sharma and the first in Hindi. Speaker, Delhi Vidhan Sabha Dr. Yoganand Shastri, Constitutional Expert Dr. Subhash Kashyap and former Speaker, Delhi Vidhan Sabha Ch. Prem Singh also expressed their views on the book.
Dikshit stated that Shri Sharma has been able to highlight the bottlenecks in the present set up of the Capital city. He has also suggested certain points to empower Delhi Government and ensure an effective governance. The book is informative, innovative and elaborate as far as rules and proceedings of the assembly are concerned, she added. The book deserves commendations as it has included lighter moments and certain behind the scene happenings.
The book is the first of its kind on Delhi Assembly, the nature and activities of its MLAs and the helplessness and lack of powers of Delhi Government in many spheres of governance. The authors has conducted a comparative socio-economic analytical study of MLAs of the four Assemblies constituted so far which brings to light several interest revelations. The book contains educational level of MLAs, occupation, age, profile, women members, history of the Vidhan Sabha and a detail of its architecture and origin.
